Regularly vacuum your carpet

Running your vacuum over your carpet on a regular basis will help keep dirt and debris from getting embedded in its fibres which can, over time, lead to discolouration and staining. It’s recommended that you use a vacuum with a beater bar or brush for cut pile carpets, however, for loop pile carpets these are not needed as they can catch and lift fibres.

Research pet-friendly carpets

We all love our furry friends, but tiny cat claws or muddy puppy paws can bring about a premature end for your carpet. Before you commit to a carpet, make sure that it is suitable for households with pets. Remove spills immediately

In a busy family home, spills on your lovely new carpet are inevitable. However, to ensure the spilt substance doesn’t leave a stain and ruin your carpet, be sure to mop it up immediately. Our experts recommend blotting the stain with a clean, white cloth (never rub as this only embeds the liquid further) and pour clean water on it from the outside in until your blots are clear. If necessary, use a good quality carpet cleaner to clear any remaining stains but always patch test the product on a discrete area of carpet first.

Put doormats at entrances to your home

Placing doormats at all the entrances of your home will help remove dirt and debris that often get trapped on our shoes. It’s also good practice to remove shoes before walking across your new carpet to minimise the risk of leaving muddy footprints.
