How to care for your vinyl flooring this Christmas
Vinyl flooring is the perfect low-maintenance option this Christmas – here are our top tips for how to care for your vinyl floor over the festive season.
Clean up spillages as quickly as possible
Vinyl floors are non-absorbent and boast an excellent resistance to spills and stains that are more likely to occur over the festive period when hosting family and friends. However, leaving liquid and food sitting on top of your vinyl floor for hours on end can result in potential damage, and because liquids are not absorbed, a potential slipping hazard.
We therefore recommend that you clean up any spillages as soon as possible using a damp cloth or well-wrung mop. If you notice any stains, warm water and a mild detergent should be enough to remove it successfully, though you can use bicarbonate of soda as well if you need an extra hand.
Check the suitability of your cleaning equipment
It is very important that you avoid using certain types of cleaning product on your vinyl floors this Christmas; using metal scourers can cause irreparable damage and some chemical cleaning products will not be suitable. Always check the label of your chemical cleaning products before applying them to your vinyl floor.
Avoid dragging heavy furniture over your vinyl floor
Need to move your sofa to make way for a tree? Thinking of creating a makeshift dance floor in your living room by moving your coffee table? If so, you should avoid dragging furniture across your vinyl floor, as this can create unattractive scuff marks. We suggest adding rubber or felt casters to the feet of heavy furniture to prevent this from becoming an issue, or fully lift and place your furniture when moving it.
